Engineering, Petrophysical and Electrical Properties Relations

Relations between petrophysical and geotechnical engineering properties of geomaterials like soils and their geo-electrical parameters are continuously being investigated through controlled laboratory measurements. Such relations will contribute towards our understanding of how engineering properties of unconsolidated geomaterials affect their geo-electrical response. It also enables geotechnical engineering properties to be estimated from easily measurable geoelectrical parameters.

Experimental set up for concurrent measurements of electrical and consolidation parameters of soils at varying effective stress levels. Controlled drainage allows measurement of pore pressure and volume of water expelled at each loading. Automated strain gauge used to measure progressive changes in sample height. Effective sample diameter is 80mm and height 60mm.
